Triumph Tracker 400 Summary
Triumph's flat-track-inspired 2026 Tracker 400 packs a 349cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 40bhp and 33Nm, with a 6-speed gearbox packing a slipper clutch. The TR-series engine on the Tracker 400 features slightly revised internals and a different state of tune, hence becoming the most powerful of Triumph's 400 lineup, alongside the Thruxton 400.
The flat-tracker aesthetic comes courtesy of wide handlebars, rearset pegs, a bespoke fuel tank & twin upswept exhausts. The Tracker rides on 43mm USD forks, a preload-adjustable monoshock, and dual-purpose tyres wrapped around alloy wheels.
Switchable traction control, dual-channel ABS, and ride-by-wire come standard, while the same analog-digital instrument cluster sees a return, with basic smartphone connectivity.
Prices start at Rs. 2.46 lakh (ex-showroom), with 3 colour variations available to choose from.

Triumph Tracker 400 Expert Opinion
The Tracker 400 is the latest addition to Triumph's 400 range, and it is the only flat-tracker-style motorcycle currently on sale in India. As the name suggests, it draws design inspiration from the flat-track racers of yesteryears, but this is very much a road bike with flat-track DNA woven into its character.
Now, unlike the global-spec Tracker, which is powered by a 398cc engine, the India-spec model gets a smaller 349cc motor. So, does it still deliver the character and charm that a Tracker should? We've just ridden it, and here are our first impressions of the bike.
Now, if there's one thing that immediately grabs your attention about the Tracker 400, it's the design. In a market filled with retro roadsters and scramblers, this motorcycle looks refreshingly different. The flat handlebar, minimalist bodywork, side number boards, slim tail section, and those chunky tyres all come together to give it a proper flat-tracker stance.
Overall, the design looks clean, premium, and unmistakably modern while retaining the appeal of a traditional flat tracker.
Even the quality levels are appreciable. Similar to all Triumph 400 bikes on sale in India, the Tracker too has excellent build quality. Be it the switch gear, the paint quality or even the plastics, everything exudes premium build quality.
Once you sit on the motorcycle, you will immediately notice that the Tracker 400 offers sportier ergonomics as compared to the Speed 400. This is courtesy of the flatter and low-set handlebar, which is 134mm lower than the Speed 400. Even the foot-pegs are set 86mm rearwards and 27mm higher, and that translates into a sporty and committed riding posture.
Even the 805mm seat height is fairly accessible, and I could easily place both my feet on the ground. For reference, I am five feet seven inches tall. That said, the handlebar is a touch too wide for my liking (73mm wider than the Speed 400), and it takes some time getting used to it. However, as you spend more time with the motorcycle, you get familiar with this sportier riding posture, and it’s not much of an issue.
As we mentioned earlier, the Tracker 400 uses a 349cc, liquid-cooled motor that makes 40bhp and 32Nm of peak torque. While these output figures are lower than the 398cc motor, the engine doesn't lack performance or character significantly. In fact, it is quite refined, smooth, and engaging to ride.
Underneath the bodywork, the bike is underpinned by a twin tubular chassis, suspended by 43mm upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable gas-charged monoshock. The bike rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in chunky knobby-pattern tyres. As for the brakes, it gets a single disc at either end, along with the safety net of dual-channel ABS.
For a modern retro motorcycle, the Tracker 400 comes equipped with a decent set of features. It gets full LED lighting, ride-by-wire throttle, dual-channel ABS, switchable traction control, and a semi-digital instrument console. However, the information layout on the digital display is very tiny, and it isn’t the most legible unit either. We really wish Triumph had offered the bike with a modern colour TFT console.
Moreover, in today’s day and age, and especially for the price it commands, the feature list feels quite bare bones. At this price point, features like cruise control, bi-directional quick-shifter, TFT display, and Bluetooth connectivity are commonplace on other motorcycles. We hope Triumph offers these features on its 400 range soon.
Coming to its performance, the engine feels even more refined than the 398cc motor, and there are barely any vibrations that are bothersome. Coming to its performance, it offers a good low-end grunt, courtesy of the short initial gearing. This helps with tractability in low-speed city traffic. However, the midrange feels noticeably flat, especially during roll-on acceleration or when you want to overtake other vehicles. That said, there is a perceptible step up in power post 6,500rpm and the bike surges ahead with ferocity all the way to its redline.
The Tracker 400 is based on the same platform as the Thruxton, and it shares the same ride and handling package as the café racer. In fact, the suspension travel, damping characteristics, and even the spring rates are identical. And the end result is that the bike offers sporty handling dynamics.
Courtesy of the taut suspension setup, changing directions is like second nature for the Tracker 400. It feels quite nimble and intuitive to filter through traffic, and even on long sweeping bends or around tight corners, it feels sure-footed and traces the intended line without bother.
That said, the sharp handling comes at the cost of a firmer suspension tune. While the front forks soak up bumps and uneven surfaces with great composure, the ride feels notably firm at the rear. Mind you, it isn't uncomfortable or harsh by any stretch of imagination, but you will feel every stepped joint or sharp-edged pothole. However, the ride gets better as you increase the speed.
Even the braking performance is commendable, especially at the front. The front brake offers good stopping power with a sharp initial bite, courtesy of the sintered brake pads. Even the progression and lever feel is quite good. The rear brake, however, could do with more stopping power.
Should You Buy It?
So, has Triumph managed to retain the Tracker's character despite the smaller engine? The short answer is yes. The Tracker 400 looks distinctive and offers an engaging riding experience backed by its sharp handling and a refined motor. Sure, the engine doesn't feel as punchy as the 398cc-powered bike, and it lacks the sheer road presence of rivals like the Guerrilla 450. But these aren't deal-breakers.
What Triumph has created is a motorcycle with a strong identity of its own. And if you're looking for something that stands apart from the crowd while remaining fun and engaging to ride, the Tracker 400 certainly deserves your attention.

Absolute Beast!
I bought this bike about two months ago and already got the first service done. The service experience with Triumph was excellent and left me with a very positive impression. From day one, this bike has perfectly matched my personality and riding style. It's sporty enough to be exciting while still being comfortable for long rides. I recently rode nearly 300 km in a single day, and surprisingly, I didn't feel tired at all. The ergonomics are simply fantastic—the riding triangle feels natural and well thought out. It took me a couple of days to get used to the riding stance, but once I did, I fell in love with it. Every ride just makes me appreciate it even more. The build quality is outstanding and feels truly premium. The suspension is on the stiffer side initially, but don't judge it too early. Give it around 1,500 km to settle in, and you'll feel the magic. It inspires a lot of confidence while riding, especially on twisty roads and at higher speeds. The exhaust note is absolutely addictive, and the looks? Definitely head-turning. People notice this bike wherever it goes. The seat is comfortable for both the rider and the pillion, making longer rides enjoyable for everyone. If I had to rate this bike, I'd give it 100/10 without a second thought. Buying this bike has been one of the best decisions I've ever made, and every ride reminds me why I chose it. If you're considering it, all I can say is: go for it—you won't regret it.
